The story behind Kartikswami Temple
The Kartik Swami Temple has a strong history behind it. Lord Shiva proposed to both his sons Lord Kartikeya and Lord Ganesha that whomsoever between the two of them arrives first after completing seven rounds of the universe will get the honor of being worshipped first. Both of them accepted the proposal.
With this acceptance, Lord Kartikeya headed to circle the universe on his Vahana. However, Lord Ganesha sat on his Vahana and moved around his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Goddess Parvati kept looking at her younger son in confusion while Lord Shiva smiled. When asked, Lord Ganesha says his parents as the universe.
Impressed by Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva offered him the privilege of being first worshipped. This decision of Lord Shiva resulted in raged anger of Lord Kartikeya. Lord Kartikeya become angry and sacrificed his body and bones to his father and his flesh to his mother as reverence. Kartikswami temple is at the place where this incident happened.
